INTRUSIVE   THOUGHTS
PET PORTRAITS

It is my great honour to introduce you to the Intrusive Thoughts series.

A slight departure from my usual body of work, this alla prima oil collection asks one very serious question: what if?

What if a kookaburra was a pirate?
What if a frog was a gentleman?

Each piece is painted in a single sitting, surrounded by family noise, snacks, and half-finished cups of coffee. They are not overworked. They are not laboured. They are pure joy—created for the sheer love of making.

At its heart, this series is a playful exploration of the bizarre, the whimsical, and the somewhat precarious ecosystem that exists inside my mind. It is proof that not every thought needs to be sensible to be meaningful—some simply want to make you smile.

If one of these paintings makes you laugh, feel lighter, or think “I didn’t know I needed that, but I do”… it might just belong with you.

Intrusive Thoughts — Commission Edition

Ever wondered what your dog would look like as a wizard?
Your cat as royalty?
Or an animal doing something it has absolutely no business doing?

I now offer custom Intrusive Thoughts commissions, where collectors can request a specific animal, concept, or even their own beloved pet—reimagined with humour, heart, and a touch of delightful absurdity.

These pieces are painted quickly and intuitively, embracing imperfection, personality, and joy. Every commission is entirely one-of-a-kind and created in the signature Intrusive Thoughts style.

In order to get the most out of your portrait, I do need a nice clear reference of your pet so that I can see all of its beautiful markings and characteristics. As these are head and shoulder pieces, images of the face are the most helpful.
